Transformation of the Matran Highway
Every day, nearly 20,000 vehicles pass through the Matran junction. This area thus serves as a major transportation hub.
Intersection Modernization
No more chain traffic jams and endless detours: the four existing intersections will be replaced with smart traffic lights. Moreover, these lights adjust in real time to traffic flows, depending on the time of day and day of the week. Imagine a road network that breathes to the rhythm of traffic!
Bridge Reconstruction
The existing bridge will be demolished and rebuilt to accommodate a wider roadway. This will better handle future traffic through 2040 and beyond. Additionally, a new access ramp will provide drivers coming from Avry or Neyruz with direct access to the highway toward Bern.

Schedule and Impact
The Matran Highway transformation project, scheduled from July 2024 to July 2027, will begin with the installation of a temporary bridge. This operation is a real logistical feat. For a few months, some lanes will be reduced, and highway access points reorganized.
However, once the work is completed, mobility throughout the area will be reinvented. This major project ushers in a new era for the Matran junction 🚀
