E-Truck: an Innovative Swiss Electric Truck

Two Swiss pioneers present an electric truck equipped with batteries delivering unmatched performance: 900 kWh. Our project is becoming a reality: a fully electric truck now handles the internal transport of construction machinery between our branches.

This marks a world first, “Engineered in Switzerland” by Designwerk. With this achievement, electromobility reaches heavy and specialized transport, setting a clear example for the construction transport sector.

Innovation and responsiveness are at the heart of the work of 170 Avesco Rent employees, who strive to meet customer needs every day. We are proud to partner with the transport company Friderici Spécial in this world-first project.

Challenges Successfully Overcome

The electric truck from Friderici Spécial offers a range of 900 km empty and 500 km at 40 tonnes. Achieving this performance required overcoming several challenges, particularly the weight of the tractor unit.

A new chassis architecture and a two-axle semi-trailer from the Italian manufacturer Bertoja, made with high-performance steels, allowed sufficient weight savings to achieve a 21-tonne payload.

Battery lifespan is also critical: Designwerk guarantees 10 years, after which the batteries can be repurposed as energy storage solutions.

Operational Optimization

Operating this truck has led to rethinking some common assumptions about electric transport. The charging time is 9 hours, made possible by a supercharger installed directly at the customer site. Parked along its route, the truck gains valuable kilometers every day.

Rarely in route planning have elevation changes and vehicle constraints been analyzed with such precision.
